An astragal is designed to seal the gap at the leading edge between a pair of doors. The astragal seals the clearance gap for the purpose of either; adding extra security to the lock, providing protection against weather conditions, ensuring privacy, preventing sound from leaking in or out of a room, minimizing the passage of light, or to hold back the passage of smoke or flame during a fire.
Astragals seal the gap between your door and door frame, making it much to harder to pry the door away from its frame. Full length interlocking astragals provide far superior protection against break-ins than small single astragal plates that only protect the knob and deadbolt area of the door. Our 2 and 3 piece interlocking systems make prying the door open very difficult. And the full height length protects the entire door.
Dimensions: 1″x 3″ x 79″/83″ astragal, and 3/4″ x 3/4″ angle.

This astragal goes on the outside of doors that swing outwards. For extra duty protection, you can use our 3 piece high security astragal which includes one additional interlocking piece. For doors that swing inwards, you can use our inswing 2 piece astragal.
